COCHLEA residency
COCHLEA studia invite dance-artists internationally to work in Athens all through the year. The COCHLEA residency programs offer living & working space, as well as a number of studying, teaching & showing possibilities, hands-on sessions, mentoring & feedback one-to-ones, as well as opportunities to connect socialy with the local dance community.
working space (85sqm shared* studio, incl. COCHLEA studia library & anatomical models)
living space (one or two 25sqm private** bedrooms, shared very basic kitchen, wc, shower, working desk, wifi)
COCHLEA residency is open to experienced practitioners with a developed teaching practice, to study, investigate, research and/or rehearse with us for a period of time (based on need and availability), including offering a workshop or a series of classes in the COCHLEA studia and/or collaborating spaces in Athens & Greece, as well as to less experienced practitioners aspiring to develop their practice, work on a specific research project or even prepare a solo or duet work. COCHLEA studia offer living & working spaces, as well as hands-on sessions and mentoring & feedback one-to-ones, by and with our collaborators & stuff, some of the most inspiring and experienced artists and teaching-artists in the city.
min period & cost 2 weeks/700euro (non-funded projects 500euro)
max period & cost 2 months/2.800euro (non-funded projects 2.000euro)
*depending on the time of the year COCHLEA studia might be completely dedicated to your residency program,
or shared with our own activities (ask as for details)
**depending on sleeping arrangements, COCHLEA studia can host up to 6 artists that are comfortable with sharing the spaces
COCHLEA studia are located at Lycabettus hill area, near Exarcheia & Kolonaki neighbourhoods, two of the most artistic, alive, and diverse places in central Athens, residential and of extraordinary urbanity, including a number of typical Athenian open-air cinemas on walking distance, affordable quality restaurants for every appetite (incl. lots of vegan options), cafeterias and bars, 10min walk from Ampelokipi tube station, and two streets from Lycabettus hill park.

COCHLEA studia are currently under renovation, and are expected to be fully opperating again in January 2024. Please send us your proposal (not more than 2 pages long) and your CV in english, one profile photo, and up to three links of either past work and/or current research material, indicating the residency program you are interested in & the period of year that works for you best. Applications are accepted all year long and are considered in a first come - first served basis.
