COCHLEA residency

COCHLEA res invites dance-artists internationally to work in Athens all through the year. COCHLEA res offers living & working space, as well as Alexander Technique lessons and/or mentoring & feedback sessions to support the artistic research. 


COCHLEA res|1 is open to experienced practitioners with a developed teaching practice, to stay, investigate, research and/or rehearse with us for a period of time (based on need and availability) in exchanged of offering a workshop or a series of workshops in the COCHLEA studia and/or collaborating spaces in Athens & Greece.


COCHLEA res|2 is open to less experienced practitioners aspiring to develop their practice, work on a specific research project or even prepare a solo or duet work. COCHLEA res offers living & working space, as well as up to 5 Alexander Technique & dynamic anatomy online or in person lessons and/or up to 5 online or in person mentoring & feedback sessions. Based on need and availability, partial bursaries are possible for the COCHLEA res|2 residency program, covering the AT and/or mentoring sessions.

working space (35sqm shared* studio incl. COCHLEA studia library & anatomical models; 18sqm veranda with dinning space & a hammock) 

living space (30sqm private** space: very basic kitchen, wc, shower, double bed, working desk, a/c, wifi; little balcony)


open to short or longer stays, depending on availability & proposal

in exchange with teaching (COCHLEA studia and/or collaborating spaces)


min period & cost 2 weeks/500euro (450euro after bursary)

max period & cost full summer/2.500euro (2200euro after bursary)

single month arrangement 900euro (800euro after bursary

*depending on the time of the year, COCHLEA studia is busy 3-4 afternoons per week 

**depending on sleeping arrangements, COCHLEA studia can host up to 6 artists that are comfortable with sharing the space

COCHLEA studia are located in Exarcheia, one of the most artistic, alive, and diverse neighbourhoods of the centre of Athens, a residential area of extraordinary urbanity,  including three typical Athenian open-air cinemas, affordable quality restaurants for every appetite (incl. lots of vegan options), cafeterias and bars, 10min walk from Panepistimio tube station, and walking distance from Lycabettus and Acropolis.

Please send us your proposal (not more than 2 pages long) and your CV in english, one profile photo, and three links to either past work and/or current research material, indicating the residency program (COCHLEA res|1 or res|2) you are interested in & the period of year that works for you best. All COCHLEA res|1 applicants are automatically considered for the partial bursary. Applications are accepted all year long and are considered in a first come - first served basis.
